AmershamSC younger swimmers win Top Boy and Top Girl awards Haslemere B Grade Open Meet

While the senior and more experienced swimmers were training hard for the National Arena League Finals the younger members of the club were gaining valuable race experience at the Haslemere B Grade Meet.

And it obviously brought out the best in them as a huge percentage of the swims were in personal best times, over 100 PBs in all.

There were a smattering of potential county Qualifying times too, a great achievement so soon after this year's championships.

With many of the swimmers being new to competition it was fantastic to see them get so many top eight finishes, and even win medals. Of the 36 medals overall, 15 were Gold; 12 were Silver and 9 Bronze.

There were medals for the girls:

Polly McGrath 13: Gold in the 50m Fly & 100m IM

Lily Pearson 11: Gold in the 200m Free & 50m Back, plus Silver in the 50m Breaststroke

Magdalena Rospedzihowska 10: Gold in the 200m Free & 100m IM

Alice Moffat 9: Gold in the 200m Free, plus Bronze in the 50m Free & 50m Back

Florie Moir 9: Bronze in the 200m Free

Georgia Vicary 9: Bronze in the 50m Breaststroke

And medals for the boys:

James Campbell 13: Gold in the 200m Free, 100m IM & 50m Free

Ben Zandonati 10: Gold in the 200m Free plus Silver in the 50m Free & 50m Breaststroke

Daniel Burlingham 10: Silver in the 50m Fly plus Bronze in the 200m Free

Marcus Van-Rest 9: Bronze in the 200m Free & 50m Free

To round off a long busy day there were presentations for Top Girl & Top Boy in each age group and Amersham was represented by Tim Everett – Top 9yr old Boy and Lily Pearson – Top 11yr old Girl.

Congratulations to all
