Diving Section Makes a Splash

Amersham Divers' success at Great Britain Diving Federation's National Novice and Intermediate Championships @ Cheltenham

With Amersham swimmers training hard for the up and coming County Championships the competition focus this week falls on the Diving Section of the club.

Congratulations to the 5 Amersham divers and their parents who risked the snow and ice to travel to the GBDF Championships in Cheltenham last weekend. 

Although a relatively small event, all of our divers won medals in some tight scoring and closely fought competitions. 

For three divers it was their first competition – the springboard of things to come (pardon the pun!).  In the first event of the day Elizabeth Cullen was 2nd in Novice Girls 10-11 yrs . Next in the Novices came Anna Croft who completely outshone in the girls 12-13 yrs competition winning the event more than 40 points ahead of the second placed competitor.  In the Intermediate Boys 14-15 yrs it was a bit of friendly rivalry for the old hands, Christian Ditchburn and Harry Hunter, with Christian the victor and Harry 2nd.  Our last and youngest competitor, Katie Burton won the Novice Girls under 10's with a consistent set of dives to round off the day.
