According to forecasters we are definitely going to get snow here in Amersham overnight tonight, but how much we get is anyone's guess.

Met Office say 'moderate', BBC state 'significant accumulations, weathercity.com are more specific with 7-13cm(!) and weather-forcast.com settle with 'light covering'.

What we do know is that widespread snow is expected for most of the South East, arriving tonight from approx 9pm. This is expected to continue throughout much of the night falling to all levels before clearing during Sunday morning.

Although less cold than previous days after Sunday, mean temperatures are expected to remain below 2C.

With the potential for snow to fall this weekend, Transport for Buckinghamshire (TfB) will be continuing with their normal winter maintenance plans, gritting the precautionary routes today and the weekend.

Additional salting on secondary routes will be carried out during the day to help prevent any snow freezing to the roads. TfB will be tweeting updates (@tfbalerts), which will also be listed on the Service Information Centre webpage.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue also have an invaluable website resource. Follow this link to their Snow Zone. This site includes winter driving tips and advice on how to keep warm and look after others.

If you know of other useful, local winter resources, please add them here as comments, or send them to me by email and I'll add to this article: amersham@thelocalpeople.co.uk
