AmershamSC swimmers triumph at Staines Black Swan Summer Meet.

On Sunday 17th July swimmers of all ages from Amersham Swimming Club were competing at the Black Swan Summer Meet hosted by Staines Swimming Club.

What should have been a relaxed two day meet was reduced to one, with Saturdays events all moved to Sunday it was set to be a mammoth days swimming.

The Amersham swimmers rose to the occasion, all performing up to and beyond expectations. As the hours went by the list of Amersham medal winners grew longer and longer, and another Top Visiting Club award looked possible.

By the end of the evening session Amersham had amassed an amazing 142 medals between the 34 swimmers competing, including 31 Bronze, 45 Silver and 66 Gold medals. And were not only Top Visiting Club, but winners in 8 age groups of the Top Boy and Top Girl awards.

So special congratulations go to Top Boys: Luke Hollingsworth 12, Tom Strudwick 13, James Brindley 14, and in the 16 & over age group, Andrew Beveridge 17; and Top Girls:Amy Hollingsworth 9, Thanya Jasinska 12, Molly Simmons 14 and in the 16 & over age group Katrina Beveridge 16.

Well done to everyone taking part as they all contributed to the fantastic results, and worked so hard swimming all their races in just one day.

Breaking news: swimmers from Amersham are currently competing at the ASA Age Group National Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. A huge achievement and very exciting for the youngsters and for the club. In the individual events Amersham is represented by Ben Levart, and he is joined by both boys and girls relay teams. The competition continues over the weekend and through Monday, so a full report will follow next week. Good luck to all.
