Amersham residents are being reminded to take extra care when driving in the snow
Thames Valley Police is reminding motorists of two videos uploaded onto the Force YouTube channel, giving drivers tips on how to drive safely in icy and snowy conditions.
The first video features Insp Paul Winks, from Bicester Roads Policing base, and gives drivers advice on what safety checks to make to your car and what things to pack in your car before setting off on a journey in icy or snowy conditions.
The second shows Sgt Pete Jell, also from Bicester, giving drivers tips on how to drive in snowy or icy weather, such as what to do if you get into a skid.
Insp Paul Winks said: "Obviously in adverse weather conditions, we would advise people not to drive unless absolutely necessary, but acknowledge that people will need to travel and want them to be as prepared as possible before they set off. This short, two minute video gives advice on what things to check on your car and what things to pack before you set off."
Sgt Pete Jell said: "According to recent weather forecasts, we will be experiencing low temperatures, ice and possibly snow in the coming weeks. This type of weather obviously makes the roads very treacherous and the video gives tips on how to drive in these conditions to try and reduce the chances of having an accident."

Transport for Buckinghamshire (TfB) will be continuing with their normal winter maintenance plans, gritting the precautionary routes today and the weekend.
Additional salting on secondary routes will be carried out during the day to help prevent any snow freezing to the roads. TfB will be tweeting updates (@tfbalerts), which will also be listed on the Service Information Centre webpage.
