Amersham & Wycombe College are holding a 'have a go' open day on Wednesday November 16 from 5:30-8:30pm for potential students to literally have a go at some of the activities offered in courses by the college. The event is a great opportunity for visitors to get a bit more insight into courses and careers.

Last month, visitors to the Amersham & Wycombe college open day helped to build this model city - come down to the open day this November 16th to 'have a go' at a range of course activities.
Visitors will be able to sample fashion photography, throw a vase on a pottery wheel, print their own Christmas cards or try their hand at building a model of a city using recyclable materials, such as the model in the image above, which was created by vistors from the last open day.
"The practical activities arranged for visitors at our last open evening proved to be very popular and enabled potential students to get a real feel for what the courses offer," said Jane Baker, Assistant Principal - Curriculum. "We have extended the 'have a go' theme over to November, so there will be just as much for visitors to see and do."
As well as the practical, hands-on activities, visitors will be able to talk to tutors and seek advice and guidance regarding the entire range of college courses covering Art & Design subjects, Health & Social Care and Hair and Beauty, to name but a few.
Typically, the college caters for school leavers looking to study BTECs and A levels, older students seeking higher education Foundation Degrees and BAs, and students of all ages looking for part-time professional or leisure courses. Over 200 courses are currently available.
For the first time, areas of the redeveloped Flackwell Heath campus will be open for visitors to inspect and tours of these new facilities will be taking place. The new classrooms will give a flavour of what's to come when the redevelopment programme finishes early in the New Year, at which point the campus will incorporate a brand new construction skills centre and a flagship facility for the region.
Have Go activities at the Amersham Campus off Stanley Hill include:
- Pottery and potter's wheel
- Build a City using recyclable materials
- Printing Christmas cards
- Fashion & Textile demonstration
- Fashion photography
- Dance demo
- Hair treatments
- Mini-manicures
