Red hearts and soppy messages have been bombarding you since the beginning of January, but Valentine's Day is tomorrow and you've still done nothing about it.

If this is you, then you can still avoid an early morning run to Tesco for the panic-buy chocolates and flowers.

Valentine's falling on a weekday is a bit of a pain but if you haven't arranged something for your loved one then many pubs and restaurants are holding Valentine specials at the weekend.

So stop panicking and start organising.

THE MEAL:

Luckily Amersham has an abundance of some of the finest pubs and restaurants - unluckily, they are so good that many of them will be booked up by now.

But give your favourite a call and see - you never know, Cupid could be on your side.

Local favourites include the Thai cuisine at the Blue Orchid, in Sycamore Road, Amersham, Restaurant Village Mangal in Hill Avenue, Amersham which offers something a bit different with its Turkish style dishes and The Crown, High Street, Old Amersham, a fantastic gastro pub with locally sourced food of 'fantastic quality, served simply'. It's three courses for £16.50 lunch menu (Monday-Saturday) is a firm favourite. See website for daily changing menu.

THE CARD:

Can't find a card that says exactly what you want it to say? Why not get ultra thoughtful and make your own. You'd be surprised what you can come up with in a lunch hour!

Try Bovilles Art Shop, Woodside Road, Amersham for all the art supplies you'll need.

If you want that homemade feel but don't have the time, then head to Seasons Cafe Deli, High Street, Old Amersham which is selling a range of local artist Charlotte Vallance's beautiful cards, click here to see the pictures.

Or try the lovely Clock Cards, in Sycamore Road, Amersham for a selection of unique cards and gifts.

Add to the card with a little bag of Valentine sweets from Old Amersham Sweet Shop for extra brownie points.

THE FLOWERS:

Not everyone likes roses, and just because they are supposed to be THE flower of Valentine's doesn't mean you have to buy them. You could always just go for your loved one's favourite flowers, even if that is gerberas, freesias or even lilies. For inspiring design and choice try Floral Creations, Hill Avenue, Amersham or Dorothy Shaw Florist, Woodside Road, Amersham.

And remember you don't have to be in a relationship to enjoy Valentine's Day - go out with your friends and celebrate, or buy gifts for people in your life that mean a lot to you.

So what ever you decide to do, enjoy it.
