The Department for Transport and HS2 Ltd is holding a consultation roadshow event on High Speed 2 (HS2) in Amersham from May 18-19.

The exhibition will take place from 8am to 8pm at Amersham & Chiltern Rugby Football Club, Ash Grove, Weedon Lane, Amersham, HP6 5QU.

The aim of the roadshow is to give local people the opportunity to find out more about the project and discuss specific concerns with experts from HS2 Ltd and the DfT. There will be maps and information available, including all the documents which were used to develop the proposals and the strategic thinking behind them.  There will also be explanatory factsheets on a wide range of issues. DVDs containing all of the documents and maps will also be available.

The deadline for responses to the HS2 public consultation is July29, 2011.

Buckinghamshire County Councillor Val Letheren, speaking on behalf of 51m, the group of 13 councils that have come together to challenge the evidence base about the HS2 project said: "The Government’s consultation on HS2 is not just about the detail of the route between London and Birmingham.  It is also the ONLY chance for anyone to comment on the principle of the route from Birmingham to Leeds, Manchester, Scotland and plans to link direct to Heathrow."
